BUDAPEST: Fiery and full
of temperament, nightlife

The
Danube splits Budapest into the smaller district
of Buda and the somewhat larger district of Pest.
On the west bank, in Buda, the long and extended
Castle Mountain dominates the silhouette of the city. On the east
bank, in Pest, city life pulsates around the shopping street Vaci
Utca. For bargain hunters, we recommend the Nagy
Vásárcsarnok (Grand Market Hall) in IX. Fõvám
tér. You will find everything here, from the colourful local
costumes to marinated Hungarian peppers.

visit
the Fishermen’s Bastion, from where there
is a breathtaking view of the city, and the Matthias Church,
where Emperor Joseph and his wife Sissi were crowned King and Queen
of Hungary. The narrow alleyways of the castle quarter lead you
to the Castle Palace, within whose walls the History
Museum, the Hungarian National Gallery and the
Ludwig Museum are situated.

Budapest
is the city of baths. Take a few hours to discover the therapeutic
powers of the thermal water in the Gellért Baths and various
other thermal baths before relaxing with a pleasant massage. Just
like in the times of the Empire and Kingdom Monarchy, you can enjoy
the flair of the 19th century at the Cafe Gerbeaud or Café
New York.
Start off your Hungarian holiday in Budapest.
In only a few hours, you can reach Lake Balaton,
the “Hungarian Sea”, by car or train.
